Some studies focus on people whose heart is affected, others on people with nerve damage from ATTR, and some are specific to newly diagnosed patients who haven't started treatment yet. Not yet, but the outlook has changed substantially. Several therapies can now slow or stabilize the disease, including ones that lower the abnormal protein and others that block organ damage directly, and ongoing trials are testing options that go further than symptom management alone.
