Do clinical trials pay, and how much?
Many do. The amount depends on how much the study asks of you. A study with a few short visits may pay a few hundred dollars. One that needs overnight stays or repeated procedures can pay several thousand. The research team sets the amount and tells you before you agree to anything.
Can I take part if I am healthy?
Yes. Many studies look for healthy volunteers, for example to check how safe a new treatment is or to compare results with people who have a condition. Tick "Healthy volunteers" in the search to see studies open to you.
Are clinical trials safe?
Your safety comes first. Every clinical trial in the U.S. must be approved and monitored by an Institutional Review Board (IRB), which checks that the risks are as low as possible and worth the possible benefits. The research team explains the risks before you agree, and you can leave a study at any time.
Do I have to pay anything to take part?
No. Taking part in a clinical trial costs you nothing, and many studies even pay you for your time and travel. Using AllClinicalTrials is free too.
Can I take part from home?
Sometimes. Some studies run partly or fully from home, with video visits, home nurse visits or medicine shipped to you. Others need visits to a clinic. Ask the research team which options a study offers.
